Pain- a universal experience. No matter who you are or where you’re from, you have experienced pain in one form or another. It shapes us, connects us, and changes us, and we often admiring those who persevere despite the pain. This sentiment is no different in the world of boxing, a sport that has existed in one form or another for more than 4,000 years. Adorned in cup protectors, headgear, and laced-up gloves, boxers are driven by a collective goal of greatness and bonded together through a common understanding that success often requires perseverance in the face of pain. As a spectator and mild participant within this sport, I decided to dive deeper and record my experience navigating boxing in DC. Displayed are photos from the last two years, during which I spent every week capturing a sliver of amateur boxing in Washington, DC. (This is meant to be a continued work)
